There is a lot I could write here. At 1200 pages, this is a beast of a book, felt more like a trilogy series packed into one more than anything. The first 600 pages or so is mostly development, setting up for the 2nd half of the novel where the revenge really starts to take place. I did love this book and i was excited to read it whenever i could. However, I do think it was dragged out a bit, especially towards the middle where I expected a more suspenseful plot. I actually didn't love how the plot played out in the end with Edmond becoming so religious it felt a bit weird to me. Also, 1000 pages were building up to his character reveal and to the 4 people in his life who knew Edmond and in the end, the reveals themselves were not very satisfying. I find that is somewhat typical in books where the buildup, anticipation, suspense, and plot up until the climax can be so intriguing but its so difficult to make that climax as intriguing, especially in fight scenes or battles which so often happen in fiction/fantasy I've been reading recently.
Overall, great read, highly recommend to anybody who can commit a few weeks to a plot that will have you loving and hating so many characters.
